From January to July 2022, China’s two-wheeled electric vehicle exports reached 20.63 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of more than 9%. Despite the global economic downturn in recent years due to the pandemic, China’s exports of two-wheeled electric vehicles have taken off against the trend, with 17.94 million units exported in 2020 and 22.9 million units exported in 2021. This year, high-speed growth is almost certain to be achieved again.

According to statistics from the China Automobile Dealers Association, in 2021, China exported a total of 15,000 second-hand cars. However, in the first half of this year, China’s second-hand car exports have already exceeded 16,000. At the same time, the average unit price of second-hand cars exported from China has also increased significantly, from less than $5,000 in 2019 to nearly $15,000 in 2021.

Among them, 10,566 second-hand cars have been exported to countries along the “Belt and Road” route, accounting for 97% of the total export volume, with an export amount of $64.55 million, accounting for 93.8% of the total export amount. Looking at specific export countries, Nigeria, Angola, Benin, Mongolia, and Djibouti are the top five export markets.

As second-hand car exports have just started and the base is small, the overall growth momentum is stronger than that of new car exports. It can be said that it is the biggest bright spot in China’s second-hand car market, which has been bleak under the impact of the epidemic. From the above popular export product categories, we can see the impact of weather and epidemic changes on export market trends. In view of the different characteristics of different periods, we urge sellers to continue to pay attention to the latest information to avoid missing business opportunities.
