How to export fresh lychees?

Zengcheng is a well-known hometown of lychee in China and the original place of the “China Lychee Stamp”. In recent years, Zengcheng lychees have been exported to many countries and regions around the world. Below, we will take you through the customs supervision steps that lychees have to go through when they are shipped overseas.

Part.1

Application for Enterprise Qualifications 1. If there are provisions in bilateral agreements, protocols, etc. signed between China and the importing country/region, or if the importing country or region’s laws and regulations require registration of the fruit orchards and packaging factories that export to that country, the customs shall register the fruit orchards and packaging factories that export to that country or region in accordance with the regulations. 2. If there are no explicit provisions in bilateral agreements or protocols signed between China and the importing country/region, and no explicit requirements in the importing country/region’s laws and regulations, the fruit orchards and packaging factories that export can apply for registration with the customs. Part.2

Registration Process 1. The user logs in to the “Internet plus Customs” e-government service platform, enters the “Administrative Approval-Registration of Production, Processing, and Storage Units for Specific Exits of Animals and Plants and Other Quarantine Objects-Registration of Production, Processing, and Storage Units for Plant and Its Products and Other Quarantine Objects for Export” to submit an application and upload the required materials after filling and stamping them. 2. The customs will review the materials submitted by the fruit orchards and packaging factories that apply for registration and organize an expert group for on-site assessment. The customs shall make a decision to approve or reject the registration within 20 working days from the date of receiving the application. If approved, a corresponding registration certificate for fruit will be issued. 3. The progress and results of the application can be publicly queried through: ● “Internet plus Customs” platform; ● “Double Publicity” column of the customs portal website; ● hotline consultation.

Part.3

Customs Daily Supervision and Management 1. Customs conducts monitoring and supervisory management of harmful organisms and toxic substances in the fruit orchards and packaging factories within its jurisdiction. The monitoring results and supervision situation serve as important basis for the classification management of fruit inspection and quarantine for export. 2. Fruit orchards and packaging factories for export should take effective measures for monitoring, prevention and comprehensive management of harmful organisms, in order to avoid and control the occurrence of quarantine harmful organisms that are of concern to the importing countries or regions. The fruit orchards and packaging factories for export should comply with relevant laws and standards, and the agricultural chemicals used should meet the food hygiene requirements and the requirements of the importing countries or regions. The packaging materials for exported fruit should be clean, hygienic, unused, and meet relevant hygiene and quality standards. If the importing countries or regions have special requirements, the fruit packaging should indicate the fruit type, place of origin, and relevant information such as the name or code of the orchard and packaging factory. Part.4

Pre-Export Inspection and Quarantine Customs conducts on-site inspection and laboratory testing in accordance with relevant work procedures and technical standards: 1. Verify whether the cargo certificate matches the goods; 2. Check whether the phytosanitary certificate and the information on the packaging box comply with the requirements of the importing country or region; 3.
