Amazon accused of selling fake stamps, removed from sale
BusinessDialogue has learned that, according to foreign media reports, Craig Mackinlay, a Conservative Party MP in the UK, has accused Amazon of “selling counterfeit stamps from China” and providing conveniences (such as advertising) to relevant sellers. Amazon has taken action on the products involved.
Craig Mackinlay told the House of Commons that Amazon has been promoting the sale of counterfeit stamps from China, which are “almost perfect except for the barcode”.
Craig Mackinlay said he had contacted the National Crime Agency and the National Trading Standards Bureau to strengthen supervision. He also informed the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) and the economic crime department of the City of London Police about this news.
“Amazon is clearly facilitating the remittance of illegally obtained cash. This behavior violates the 1981 Forgery and Counterfeiting Act,” Craig Mackinlay added.

In response to these accusations, an Amazon spokesperson stated: “Amazon strictly prohibits sellers from selling counterfeit products in our store. We have a professional team and system dedicated to protecting our store from counterfeiting, fraud and other forms of abuse.”
“In very rare cases, if a consumer’s purchased item is detected by Amazon as a counterfeit, we will proactively contact them and provide a refund. Customers are always protected by A-to-Z (guaranteed claims) protection.”
“If the product is not delivered or does not match the advertisement, customers can contact our customer support team to request a full refund. We have removed problematic products and taken action against third-party sellers.”
