The truth behind Amazon’s billion-dollar subsidy is here! The submission portal for Black Friday is now open

Amazon's billion-dollar subsidy truth revealed! Black Friday submission portal open

This is the 903rd original article from Kankan KuaJing.

Wherever Temu goes, no grass grows.

Although this statement may be somewhat exaggerated, it is an undeniable fact that Temu’s appearance has had an impact on many overseas platforms. Helpless, they have also started to adjust their response strategies. Adhering to the idea of “if you can’t beat them, join them,” there are overseas e-commerce platforms that have begun to adopt a fully-managed model, and e-commerce platform giant Amazon has begun its “billion-dollar subsidy” strategy.

Before Prime Day arrives, Amazon has begun a series of high-profile actions. For a while, the emotions of sellers have been fluctuating…

Amazon launches “billion-dollar subsidy”?

20% off and an additional $5 off?

Sellers have not yet recovered from the challenge of account verification, but Amazon has made another big move in the past two days.

In yesterday’s article, we also mentioned that Amazon announced that sellers can register two items for free in the Amazon Vine program between June 5th and July 21st. Review article >> Almost fell for it! Amazon’s promotional routine is deep, and many sellers are confused… Just as sellers were hesitant to participate, many sellers suddenly discovered that their products inexplicably appeared with discount information yesterday!

“Suddenly found that there was a purchase discount on the link, and was shocked. I quickly checked the background and found that I did not set it up. When I refreshed it, it was gone. I clicked on the link of a competitor and found that there was also a discount. The discount codes are the same. Can this 20% discount really be used?” A seller posted on the forum, saying that he was surprised to see that his product displayed not only a 20% discount code, but also an additional $5 discount.

There seem to be many sellers who are as surprised as him. According to their feedback, the same discount code has appeared for both third-party sellers and Amazon self-operated sellers, and both new and old sellers have displayed the discount code, even for pre-sale products. It once made sellers think that zero-cost purchases were going to start again, and everyone started a heated discussion about this.

“Scared me, I thought I accidentally opened a duplicate coupon, but after checking, there really wasn’t one, and when I saw that everyone was like this, I felt relieved.”

“Each link will have a variant showing this discount. Refresh it and it will jump to another variant. I’m speechless.”

“I thought Amazon was promoting my products for free. I almost wanted to advertise them all, but when I refreshed it, I found out that they all had it.”

However, although the discount code is widespread, it seems to be ineffective. Some sellers tried to place orders with a buyer’s account, but when they filled in the code during checkout, it showed that the code could not be applied, and it couldn’t even be used for Amazon’s self-operated products. Therefore, the seller is convinced that “this is a BUG!”

Is it a bug or a new policy by Amazon?

Customer service responses are different.

Regardless of the category, Amazon has given such a high discount of 20%, plus a $5 discount, which is simply irresistible! However, when purchasing, it shows that it cannot be used. Some sellers said, “It is estimated that it is a bug. I don’t believe that Amazon will subsidize buyers on such a large scale!” So what’s going on?

With a questioning heart, the sellers consulted Amazon customer service through a case, and the answers given by customer service were different. Some customer service replied that this is a bug, while others said that the seller was lucky to be selected by Amazon to participate in the “discount program provided by Amazon”. So what is this program?

According to its announcement, Amazon will provide discounts or coupons to buyers, and the amount of the discount will also be paid by Amazon. This is a limited-time offer until September 1.

This discount plan seems to have come out of nowhere and has a bit of a “billion yuan subsidy” flavor like Pinduoduo’s. Some sellers were surprised and said, “This is the real Amazon. Many sellers in East China have been seeing blank pages in their back-end for the past few days, and I knew Amazon had a big move, but I didn’t expect it to be this big!”

However, Amazon’s official subsidy plan seems to be not going smoothly. As of the time of writing, almost all of the discount codes shown on Amazon’s front end have disappeared. Regardless of whether it’s a bug or an activity funded by Amazon itself, as long as we sellers don’t suffer losses, it’s okay. On the contrary, some sellers have benefited from it, as some have found that their colleagues have made a lot of orders!

However, although this is just a round of discount bugs, we can see that Amazon has put the discount plan on the agenda. It seems that perhaps due to the impact of Pinduoduo, Amazon has a sense of crisis, and how it will continue to attract traffic to the platform remains to be seen!

Was Black Friday Network reported at the beginning?

Seller: Reported, waiting for a lot of orders!

The Amazon large-scale subsidy event bug has been fixed. Some sellers have found that the Deal page now has the reporting entry for Black Friday and Network One’s BD and LD. In previous years, Black Friday Network One would not report so early, so he is not sure if this is another bug from Amazon.

In response to this, some sellers consulted customer service and were told, “This is not a system error. The products that meet the requirements have already started to be recommended to you. If you want to participate, just apply normally.”

However, some sellers have found that currently only Canada and Mexico have registration available, and the registration entrance for the US site has not yet opened. Despite concerns from sellers about the possibility of cancellation for this year’s early Black Friday promotion, some sellers have already decisively registered.

Regarding this, the seller stated: “Waiting for explosive sales!” The phrase “explosive sales” is also the biggest hope for sellers in the near future. After all, at this time period, low order volume and poor traffic are the current situation for most sellers. Although there is still some time before Black Friday, preparing early and laying out plans in advance will surely bring us success and results in the second half of the year!

Nowadays, emerging global e-commerce platforms are emerging one after another. For Amazon, Temu is just one of the challenges. In order to continue to maintain its position as the leader in e-commerce, Amazon will surely take multiple measures to adjust and optimize. However, just like Amazon’s subsidy activities for buyers, although the scope does not need to be too large, it would be even better if sellers were taken into consideration.

In addition, it seems that Amazon is prepared for this year’s Black Friday promotion and plans to work hard for it. At that time, it will depend on how well we sellers perform.
