2. 618 Taobao Global Express offers free logistics upgrade for new users in 15 countries worldwide
On June 5th, Taobao Global Express, in partnership with AliExpress, launched a series of measures to ensure stable international logistics during the 618 summer promotion period and help cross-border export merchants better serve overseas consumers. As of now, the inventory of Taobao’s preferred warehouses has increased by over 400% compared with the same period last year, and the timeliness and service of key 15 countries will be further guaranteed, with an expected overall efficiency improvement of nearly 10%.
During the 618 promotion period, new users from 33 countries around the world on AliExpress can enjoy logistics upgrade services for most products in their first order (from worry-free economy to worry-free standard), with a faster logistics time of 10-20 days. Consumers from 15 countries including Spain, France, Germany, the United States, Russia, Israel, Japan, and South Korea, whether they are new users who are “making their first purchase” or old users who are “buying multiple items at once,” will experience the free “upgrade” service for cross-border packages. New users from these 15 countries can enjoy up to 3 upgrade opportunities from the time of registration, with further guaranteed timeliness and service, and an expected overall efficiency improvement of nearly 10%.

4. Cainiao establishes new supply chain company in Jiaxing
On June 5th, Jiaxing Xinzhiyi Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd. was established with a registered capital of RMB 10 million. The legal representative is Cheng Chao, and its business scope includes supply chain management services, international cargo transportation agency, information consulting services, import and export of goods, technology import and export, food sales, etc. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zhejiang Xinyi Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd., which is jointly owned by Zhejiang Cainiao Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd. and Alibaba (China) Network Technology Co., Ltd.

5. Xiamen-Chicago Cross-border E-commerce Air Freight Route Opened
On June 5th, a plane carrying nearly 110 tons of export goods took off from Xiamen Gaoqi Airport, and the Xiamen-Chicago cross-border e-commerce air freight route was successfully launched. The route is operated by the US Atlas Air and is the first regular cargo route between Xiamen and Chicago, as well as the third cross-border e-commerce air freight route opened by Xiamen Airport this year. The route is planned to operate two flights per week, with a maximum business load of 115 tons. The main goods include cross-border e-commerce products, machine parts, auto parts, etc. It is expected to operate over 100 flights in the next 12 months.

6. Shenzhen Airport’s Zhongshan Pre-positioned Warehouse is Now in Use
On June 5th, the Shenzhen Airport’s Zhongshan pre-positioned warehouse was put into use in the Hongchang Logistics Park in Xiaolan Town, Zhongshan City. This project is the first logistics facility set up by Shenzhen Airport on the west bank of the Pearl River, as well as Shenzhen Airport’s first out-of-town cargo pre-positioned warehouse. After the project is put into use, enterprise goods only need to be transported to the Zhongshan pre-positioned warehouse to undergo unified weighing, customs declaration, loading, and other cargo collection processes. The pre-positioned warehouse operator will arrange for vehicles to transport the goods to Shenzhen Airport, so that the shipper can send goods to the world without having to travel to Shenzhen.

7. Amazon Japan to Open Two New Logistics Centers in Kanto
On June 5th, Amazon Japan announced the opening of two new logistics centers in the Kanto region, with a total construction area of about 200,000 square meters. Amazon will employ over 3,000 employees in these two logistics centers, including regional managers, workplace health and safety managers, product quality managers, equipment maintenance managers, and product picking, packaging, and transportation personnel. If these two logistics centers are put into use, Amazon Japan’s total storage capacity will increase to over 17 million cubic feet. By then, the total number of Amazon Japan logistics centers will exceed 25. These two new logistics centers are scheduled to be put into use in August 2023, and Amazon is currently recruiting personnel to work at these two bases.

8. Wish “Anniversary Sale” Reporting Now Open
On June 5th, Wish announced that it will hold a global “Wish Anniversary” sale from June 24th to July 7th. Sellers who want to participate in this sale must report before June 12th. 9. TikTok Shop Plans to Achieve $12 Billion GMV by 2023
On June 5th, according to internal data obtained by The Information, TikTok Shop’s GMV (i.e. total value of goods sold) in Southeast Asia increased more than four times to $4.4 billion in 2022. The message stated that TikTok Shop’s GMV target is to reach $12 billion by 2023.
A TikTok spokesperson stated that TikTok “is committed to the continued development of TikTok Shop in Southeast Asia.” According to Insider Intelligence data, as of May, there are 135 million TikTok users in Southeast Asia alone.
It is reported that TikTok has spent a lot of money to encourage buyers and sellers to join. According to Apptopia data, the TikTok Shop Seller Center app has attracted more downloads in Indonesia over the past year.

10. RCEP officially takes effect in the Philippines
On June 5th, following the implementation of RCEP in the Philippines, all 15 member countries have completed the implementation process and implemented tariff reductions, entering a new stage of full implementation of the agreement.
Data shows that China has been the largest trading partner of the Philippines for six consecutive years. In 2022, the total value of goods imported and exported between China and the Philippines reached 585.28 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.6%. After RCEP takes effect in the Philippines, zero-tariff treatment will be added for some Chinese goods such as automobiles and parts, some plastic products, and textile and clothing products.
It is understood that since the implementation of RCEP for nearly a year and a half, the cost of goods trade between members has significantly decreased. According to the agreement, more than 90% of goods trade within the region will ultimately achieve zero tariffs.
