1. Temu Will Officially Launch in Japan This Month
June 9th News, Pinduoduo’s overseas version “Temu” will launch its Japanese website on the 22nd of this month. Temu has already purchased a large amount of air freight capacity in the Japanese market and contacted e-commerce professionals. The news stated that Temu will initially enter Japan in small parcel mode, and has already contacted many logistics companies and entered the bidding stage; the initial focus is on cold start, testing the order process and consumer feedback; currently there is no clear external investment plan, and testing will first be done on existing European and American product libraries. Up to now, in just 9 months, Temu has opened 12 sites, including the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, France, Spain, Austria, and Mexico.

June 9th News, to ensure stable international logistics during the 618 summer promotion, Cainiao International Express has launched multiple new initiatives, including the official use of overseas warehouses in the UAE. After a period of testing, the Cainiao UAE overseas warehouse located in Dubai has officially opened, covering an area of about 5,000 square meters. It is one of the largest overseas warehouses opened by Chinese enterprises in the UAE and will serve the entire Middle East region. Currently, the warehouse can achieve 5-7 day delivery in countries such as Israel and Saudi Arabia. It is expected to achieve 3-day delivery in the UAE by July of this year and “next-day delivery” at the fastest.
Prior to this, the 5 new cross-border warehouses opened by Cainiao have all been put into use. Up to now, Cainiao has built a warehouse network covering 8 provinces and cities in China such as Guangdong, Zhejiang, and Shandong, with more than 20 warehouses, including 10 Choice warehouses and 2 global center warehouses that platform merchants can choose to settle in.

3. Overseas 618 will start on June 12th. AliExpress upgraded multiple official warehouses.
On June 9th, it was announced that the Overseas 618 Summer Sale will officially begin on June 12th. AliExpress has upgraded its warehouse network capabilities and has opened a new overseas warehouse in the Middle East. Two Shandong warehouses that cater to the Korean market have expanded by over 30,000 square meters in order to ensure efficient logistics during the big promotion period.
This year, AliExpress has continued to increase its investment in the Korean market, with a year-on-year increase in single orders by over 100% in May. In order to accommodate the surge in orders, AliExpress expanded two preferred warehouses in Weihai and Yantai, which cater to the Korean market. These warehouses expanded by a total of over 30,000 square meters, covering all managed and self-operated merchants, ensuring warehouse capacity and 3-5 day logistics delivery during the big promotion. According to the information revealed at the AliExpress Merchant Summit this year, the total area of domestic and overseas preferred warehouses will exceed one million square meters, and distribution centers will cover more than 200 cities across the country.

4. In May, Lazada/Shopee’s total website traffic in Southeast Asia was 657 million.
On June 9th, the data analysis website Similarweb released the website traffic (desktop + mobile) and related data of various e-commerce platforms in Southeast Asia in May 2023. In May, the total website traffic of Lazada/Shopee’s sites (Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam) was 657 million, a decrease of 2% from the previous month’s 670 million. This number was positive by 3.1% last year. Among them, the total website traffic of Lazada’s sites was 209.9 million, a decrease of 4.8% from the previous month; the total website traffic of Shopee’s sites was 447.1 million, a decrease of 0.6% from the previous month.
In May, both platforms saw an increase in traffic in the markets of Thailand and Vietnam, while other sites performed poorly. In addition, Lazada Singapore saw a month-on-month increase of over 10% (11.8%), but was unable to surpass Amazon. This is also the first time that Lazada Singapore’s traffic data has been lower than that of Amazon for two consecutive months.

5. TikTok plans to expand global e-commerce business by more than three times to $20 billion
On June 9th, TikTok plans to expand its global e-commerce business by more than three times to $20 billion this year, hoping to take advantage of the rapid growth of the Southeast Asian market. Last year’s total transaction volume was $4.4 billion. Insiders say that TikTok is also trying to expand sales in the US and Europe markets, but these markets account for only a small part of its $20 billion target, and a TikTok spokesperson declined to comment on the company’s financial matters.

6. Amazon launches discount program
On June 9th, many Amazon sellers found that a large number of listings on the US site had a 20% discount. Amazon said that for selected products, it may provide discounts or offer coupons to buyers, but the pre-discount price is higher than the seller’s price. In this case, the seller will receive payment for the order and pay sales commission based on the full price set by the seller.
This program will not be used to charge buyers more than the seller’s set price. If for any reason, the seller wishes to exclude their products from these discount or coupon programs, Amazon will exclude the seller’s sales account from the program of providing additional discounts or coupons to buyers.

7. Australia Post raises parcel rates by 10%
On June 9th, Australia Post announced that it will raise the prices of a series of postal services including commercial parcels starting from July 3rd, with an average increase of 10%. The company stated that rising costs and increasing losses led to this decision.
The courier company has sent price increase notifications to customers, outlining changes in fees for multiple services including commercial mail, domestic and international parcel services. The price increase for each service ranges from 3.5% to 9.95%, depending on the product category.
Due to the price adjustment, Australia Post’s customers will face higher service rates. For example, the price of small pre-paid packages will increase from $9.95 to $10.9, while the price of small express parcels will increase from $12.95 to $14.4.

8. Kehong Logistics submits IPO application to Northbound Stock Exchange
On June 9th, according to information disclosed by the Northbound Stock Exchange, Zhejiang Kehong Logistics Co., Ltd. submitted the prospectus for its IPO.
The data shows that Kehong Logistics was established in 2012 and is a digital operation-based supply chain logistics service provider that provides customers with one-stop comprehensive logistics services and specialized logistics services. Its business covers international freight forwarding, container transportation, general cargo transportation, agency customs clearance, warehousing, and information services, among others.
The prospectus shows that from 2020 to 2022, Kehong Logistics’ operating income was 457 million yuan, 891 million yuan, and 938 million yuan, respectively; the net profit attributable to the parent company’s owners was 18.61 million yuan, 35.57 million yuan, and 29.34 million yuan, respectively.
